Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

Not the same , if you are going to get a garage to replace it you need to know it will fit. Bentley says 3 types . 1 Aircooled and 2 watercooled 1.9 and 2.1 . I would stick to using a watercooled type to be safe.

OOOPs, I bought an air cooled auto box as a spare for my water cooled camper.
I would really be interested in finding out the differences or options to make fit otherwise it's a £300 door stop : :( :(

The gearing is a bit shorter on the Aircooled and there is no cooler on it for the fluid. Having never seen one I am not sure if there is still the outlets for the fluid but plugged up or not. If there are you could use an external cooler and live with the gearing which isn't too different. I believe the Aircooled had a slightly shorter geared final drive as well?

I bought it off a dealer, he knew I had a water cooled engine, but he may not understood the differences. :ok
I guess its only going to be a bargain to someone with an air cooled bus. :)
