Not a pierburg part but it'll work.

Dude, you're amazing, I did look on brickwerks but for some reason I didn't see that one, Thanks for the link!
Ordered now - very much appreciated!

Slight amendment to Kev's excellent description, where he described the operation of the heater element as controlled by the temp2 switch on the thermostat (housing). This isn't strictly correct, as the temp2 sender (not switch) is only used on injection models. The switch that controls manifold heating on carb models is located in the same place. (I'd hate you to go out looking for a new temp2 switch!)
And also not all models are wired this way, some have a permanent ignition feed to the choke heater piggybacked off the bypass air cutoff valve, and the temp switch/relay circuit just powers the hedgehog manifold heater and anti-icing heater in the carb venturi.

Ok
Well yes there is a haynes manual, but they are hard to find.
If it does not open fully then you can adjust it
On the side of the carb is a housing with a couple of coolant pipes going to it
On the side of this housing are three screws
Once loosened the choke flap can be adjusted, by rotating the housing.
The adjustment is only small.

First you must set the choke flap gap (3mm) as described by the Haynes.
Make sure the flap is free to move fully open, and isn't snagging in the carb

This spring heats up and opens the flap, is it ok? Not broke?
You can see the adjustment amount on the three "ears"

That fits over the arm that moves the flap

That looks like this when its all back together

Yes, I do and no, you can't. No reason to either, the auto works very well and pretty simple to repair. Follow Kev's guide :-)
