Fanny Fridge

Post by T2Andy »

Twas down the New Forest the other week and noticed that the fridge started to make a humming noise on gas, then last weekend did the same on 240, sounds as though it's got a fan kicking in when hot, is this standard or an extra someone has added?

As far as I'm aware there is a fan that sits underneath and comes on to draw air through passed the fins at the back. Never heard mine though

Yea my fan comes on when it is hot so that is as it should be. But how long does yours stay on for, mine seems to be on for ages.

Mine comes on and makes a bit of a noise. I'm still paranoid about unfamilair sounds in the van.

It keeps the beer cold so thats the main thing

Away at the weekend again, and it varied between 5-15 minutes but not as hot as previous trips.

My fan came on during the recent hot spell on both Gas and 240AC. It was extremely noisy so I had the fridge out and find it the be in a bad state, covered in dust etc (24 years of crap basically). Cleaned it up and put everything back together, much better now. Also as a bonus fixed my pilot looking glass so I can see if the fridge is lit now.

One comment on the fridge is they really need to be level or it just will not work.

One thing I need to do is get some thermal compound and fix the heatsink back to the coolent pipe properly, it does have a habit of falling off.

Yep ours came on last weekend in the heat whilst keeping the beer and milk cold for the barbeque whilst in the drive way :)

MIL: I have no room left in the fridge
Me: I have one in the driveway

She then used every surface in gromit for food storage and trifle setting!
