Tailgate struts

Post by colynmac »

How do you replace the tailgate struts?
I have got new ones ready to fit but am puzzled.

Any help much appreciated, thanks.

The van end is held on with a small circlip - take a small electrical screwdriver, and carefully lever the circlip off the post (catching it when it flies off) then simply pull the strut end off.

The end on the tailgate is a ball and socket with should have a metal clip holding the strut onto the ball. Using the same screwdriver, lever the metal clip towards the end of the strut enough that the strut comes off the ball.

Make sure you prop or hold up the tailgate whilst changing the struts tho...
