Glue to fix westfalia double glazed window
So yeh, I'm not having much luck with my westy windows... Long story, made short, I have broken one.
Is there a glue I should be using to fix it?
I no doubt will try and replace it at some point but, I'm hoping for a quick fix until that day comes around.
Cheers
Ben.

I suppose it depends on how bad it is, usual trick with cracked plastic is drill a hole at the end of the crack to stop it going further, pics of damage?

Heavy duty transparent tape may be better. Can't see glue holding a split together? Dunno, might work.

Re: Glue to fix westfalia double glazed window
Don't use super glue, it will leave a white bloom on the surface of the plastic window, and it's not waterproof.
Hope that helps

The best adhesive I know of for acrylic is Tensol12

Re: Glue to fix westfalia double glazed window
Cheers guys, thanks for the advice...
Somebody else suggested tensol12.
It is a specific acrylic glue so I'm going to give that a go.
To be honest, it's I a bad way... A chunk has broken off from the flat side, the corner has smashes and there is a big crack on the edge along the top...
No pictures as I was too angry! Ha!
Cheers
Will let you know what happens with the tensol12...

Re: Glue to fix westfalia double glazed window
I'm sure there are better products but I used JB Weld on mine when a stone was thrown through it whilst driving through Morocco. Both panes shattered, and though it It was all I had with me, worked better than expected (even if it wasn't very pretty). I didn't replace it for near on a year!

Another vote here for a Tensol12/Plastic Weld solvent based adhesive.

Re: Glue to fix westfalia double glazed window
So,
I tried the Tensol 12. by golly it seems to have worked.
It aint pretty, but hey it should be water tight (hopefully).
The 'glue' smells like it could knock out a horse, so make sure you do it outside if you fancy a go.
No photos because i forgot again. sorry!
cheers

Re: Glue to fix westfalia double glazed window
I used exactly what was used in the first place which is a double sided tape I found the closest match to original was 3M acrylic tape

It's been over a year now with no worries. No strong smells no spreading glue no mess. Just as a extra measure I sealed the edge with a good quality clear silicone to prevent water ingress
