Places that do engine replacement upgrades etc

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

Places that do engine replacement upgrades etc

Post by Jeffrothegasman »

Hi everybody
I've recently purchased a t25 1.6 diesel, and on it's 1st 35mile round trip the fuel gauge said it was running out of diesel and then just stopped , I put in £30 of diesel before i set off and it registered half full ?
I think it was the battery but would that affect the fuel gauge, as when i mangaged to get some fuel in a jerry can from a nearby petrol station, I had to jump start the van as it was flat, the gauge registered 1/4 tank filled after i put in £6 worth of diesel and drove another 10 miles to get back home
But I've thought about getting the engine replaced and a mate of mine is selling an skoda fabia diesel 19tdi or 19td cheap with full service history.
So I guess I'm looking for a garage who knows what they are doing to sort it out for me ???
Any advice would be appreicated
Thanks Jeff

Hi Jeff, where are you, no point somebody reccomending a garage 00's of miles away.

I'd get it running first maybe with help from here then think about engine swaps, unless you have an endless pit of money

welcome btw :ok

I also would persevere with the 1.6 until you get used to it.

check alternator is charging, if batt is old it's always worth replacing it but I thought these diesels once started will run with a dead battery so it may have died for other reasons like water in fuel

Steve at gasure is probably your closest T25 friendly garage.

Welcome to the club, I'm just up the road in Macclesfield. Before you start spending your money on engine swaps , give the thread in Wiki a read at the top of this page.^^^

John (ghost) would probably know of someone nearby and probably a garage to steer clear of too!
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

i wouldn't go down the "engine swap route yet" sounds like youve got other problems that may be something and nothing. Chances are it will be a tdi in that skoda, which is a bit more tricky than a 1.9 (1y), try jim painter off here he is at tarporley, but lives in Crewe. i'm in Haslington just down the road but have enough problems of my own at the moment
