Wiring for heated seats from Saab 9-3

Post by dondublin »

So after reading the various threads and forums etc I bought a pair of Saab 9-3 heated Leather seats from a car dismantlers here in Dublin. They in good condition and only cost me €50. It seems fairly straightforward to fit them but I want to get the heating in the seats working before I do.

Ive had a look around the internet and can find wiring diagrams but it gets very complicated very quickly.

I only want to be able to manually switch the seats on / off ( i.e. no temp control etc ) … Im thinking that Ill just run a wire to the dash and contact to a simple switch for each seat.

See attached photo, I need to understand which wire / pin-out control's the heating element.

Im hoping that its either 1 or 2.

If its 3 then i need to know which ‘ pin-out’s ‘ i need to connect to.

Can anyone help me with this ? Id really appreciate any assistance...

After chatting to the guys in a Saab forum ... i have decided to buy a new heated seat kit http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 402wt_1227" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

found the wiring of the saab heating units extremely complicated as i have no experience of auto electrics :-)

Nice info there, so would you take the leather cover off somehow to fit the new pads? Did you discover a hidden hoarde of Saab seats anywhere by the way? I'm also thinking of going the Saab route.
