Panel van side windows

Post by freckvan1 »

All the best for New Year everyone !

When I removed side windows and slider on my converted panel van, Autostrada, not high top :D I observed how
the interior material, velour type lining which is bonded to glass cut out, the window seal fitting over.
Parts of the material came unstuck so I took the opportunity to have a good peer and poke.

I was quite stunned to find the gap behind the window cut out. I assumed there would be a curved profile window surround joining the window edge itself.

What I have is a bl...y big gap, enough to put my flat hand between window cut out and metal behind, the material has been stretched over this and then bonded onto window cut out.

Now then, is this usual (I doubt it  ) and also is it possible to source a conversion window surround/s, apart from making a fibreglass profile myself to suit ?

Mine has a fibreglass inner window surround with a thick rubber seal between it and the window frame, I can still get my fingers down the gap past the seal though.
