Interior question

Before I break it, can anyone tell me how to remove this heater cowl type thing? I Just can't see how it comes out....

You pull it towards you.

I've tried that just feels like it's gonna break that's all.....didn't have any trouble with my last air-cooled 1, thought maybe they were different...

First remove the choke frame (upper right on the pic) then, while you press the metal lip of the dash inwards, pull the plastic piece outwards.
The plastic should come out below the edge of the metal dash.
