Westfalia Waste Water Tank

Quick bit of help/advice needed please....

Currently got the waste water tank off whilst the inner sill is repaired.

How is it refitted?
I know it bolts up there, but how is the waste hose through the floor made into the tank?
Currently the old pipe fitting through the floor is completely bodged with mastic!!!

Am I correct in thinking that the tank hole fitting is shaped as in photo as an emergency drain/over flow if the tank over fills then the water drips out the slots onto the outside floor?
Does it need to be sealed? if so with what?

Mastic is what Westfalia used when it was built. The waste pipe should extend well into the tank; it is not supposed to be a watertight seal.
As you surmise, if the tank is overfilled its contents drip out at the top. Much better than dirty washing-up water coming up the waste pipe and into the van body.

Thank you from me as well. Just removed mine with only one bolt sheared (result).
My drain spigot into the tank from above was screwed to the underside with a foam seal between the two. Unfortunately the ravages of time have caused the spigot ring to break where the screws go through. I now know what I have to do to repair to make sure it functions as it should!
I was going to seal it up tight.......
