Van Stereo/Radio - What to do?

Post by NPG264 »

New owner after some ideas for the best fitting stereo/radio, as I understand depth can be a problem. Also would like one with a retro/original feel so if anyone knows what went in a 1992 Holdsworth Villa I'd appreciate that feedback too?

Welcome :ok

I dont know what it would gave had fitted originally so can't help.

However, modern radios will often foul the gubbins behind so buy a radio collar from, I think, Brikwerks. This fits between the radio and dash so as to allow cleared space behind. Although it makes the radio stick out an inch or so, it does provide a reasonable solution and looks neat enough.

:ok

Halfrauds or similar should also have a collar as mentioned above. I just bought a mp3 head unit so it sat flush, doesn't look retro though.

Many units don't have CD deck these days. These tend not to be as deep. Or fit a retro one in the dash (Blaupunkt might be the right type, not sure) and fit a nice modern Bluetooth unit in the back you can stream to!

I had the problem with CD unit sticking out of the dashboard. I now have the below, a great unit very shallow depth. Fits all the way in.
I got mine 2nd hand off off EBAY for £40. Though they don't come up much 2nd hand. Though they do a cheaper non bluetooth version as well.

I have the cheap Sony MP3/Radio head unit:

I have door speakers and a pair of 6"x 9" speakers under the rear seat. Sound is brilliant. I only paid about £45 for mine.

Thinking of doing the same.

Has anyone fitted a single DIN unit with a screen?
something like... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01FQBHXNO?th=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Can anyone recommend one? not bothered if it is a brand name or not?
How easy are they to fit?
Also was thinking of connecting the reverse camera into it.

Cheers.
