coolant loss

hey - that's a lovely offer
changed the pressure cap - to no avail - (though that's no guarantee!) -
going to persevere with my checking pipes and connectors all the way to the rad + heater valve + will double check how header tank looks when hot -
perplexes me -
engine bay tank up to the brim - header tank up to max - long drive - heater fine -
back home - engine hot - engine bay tank still up to the brim - coolant in header tank doesn't seem to have moved at all - leave overnight - check in the morning - engine bay tank still up to the brim - header tank below minimum! system bled several times and new caps on header tank and engine bay tank

After taking it for a run, would it be worth disconnecting the hose that connects to the darlek cap to see if that makes any difference to the level once it's cooled down? Not sure what this would point too if it did make a difference though!

finally found IT!
a little coolant pipe under the throttle cable!
small rip turned into a large rip - and finally saw it leaking!





one thing off he list before the cold snap kicks in

PS couldn't find anywhere selling this hose ?!? had to make up a hose with bits n pieces n spares i had + an adapter

looks like carb to inlet manufold to me and it's missing in the photo so has been removed

goes from - the little stubby outlet with what looks like white fur on it - right in the middle of the photo -
goes to - the thin white adapter - just to the left of the throttle cable on the photo - which fits into a coolant hose running right across the engine bay -
have a weber dat 34 - gulp - so coolant hoses and how they're joined up round the carb - not standard -
lack of technical terms and names of parts leaves me a bit tongue tied when it comes to naming parts!

That's why it split because if has been bent out of it's normal path.
Stubby bit with while oxide is the inlet manufold, it would normally go to a Pierburg which is at 90 degrees to your thin white adaptor.

get a bigger pic up would help, zoom out or stand a bit further away

I can't make that out...

Zoom out a bit. You have late style cooling system because of the T piece pipe in last pic, but doesn't look like Pierburg carb to me. I could be wrong though. From memory, the narrow hose from the T piece bit near header tank usually goes to the carb choke, not round under the throttle cable. Then there is one from inlet maifold port to other choke port ( like in Itchy's first pic. )

Take some pics zoomed out a bit Edoh

Also take a pic of thermostat housing and one showing where coolant hose from inlet manifold goes.

I may be looking at this all wrong, and have my head up my behind, but something doesn't sound/look like my DG set up.

Do you have a different carb Edoh?
