temperature sender conundrum

Post by islandboy »

Looking at tech spec for temp sender for 1987 1.9 DG petrol, states operating range 25 to 80 deg. but thermostat is rated 87 deg.

Am I missing something here or just being plain thick ?

Usually up to 120 deg. for coolant, 180 - ish for oil.
What is the sensor for? (sound more like a switch at 80 deg.)

It's not a sender it is a switch, that operates relay No. 1 in the junction box.
It turns off the carb heater, choke heater and manifold heater at around 67deg

Just krap triumph again.

I thought the sender that pointed to the front of the van was for the temp gauge, the one that pointed to the n/s was for the one you describe. I may be wrong tho.

I read it as the housing that faces the front of the van
There is indeed a sender and a switch.
The one that fits in the side is the (temp II) switch
The one that fits right at the front is the temp sender for the gauge

Temp II switch.
