Water pump part number confusion

Post by GreenBean91 »

Hi all,

I know you're probably all sick of seeing people who can't be arsed googling their part numbers, but I seem to be getting stuck googling...

Taken the thermostat out of my 1.6D (naturally aspirated) and while I was down there thought I'd check the water pump; lots of rust inside. I want to change it, and after 10 minutes with the scouring pad, found the part number 056121013E. Google only seems to throw back 056121013A, and several VW parts sites seem to have what visually looks like mine, but the part number they have is 026121010A.

Assuming the centre bore is where the pump goes directly into the water jacket on the engine, the one I've taken off is 40mm or 36mm depending on which way you measure it.

Any help is gratefully received :)

That 5 should be a 2 I should think:

If it is rusty there is a problem with the antifreeze/coolant regime - running without any?

Thank you! I'm not sure, I inherited it recently, it's been sat for a few years and the coolant tank popped when I drove it... Giving it a good flush this weekend, unless there's something else you'd recommend (with regards to the rust)?
