Wobbly throttle pedal

Post by what2do »

Developed a bit of a wobble under my right foot. A quick glimpse tonight revealed that one of the fasteners at the base of the pedal isn't tight. My question is, what's on the bottom of the fastener? It's too wet and dark to be crawling under the van at the moment. Thanks.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

originally POP rivet, so only the bung of the rivet is down there.
Drill out the rivet and if the sheet metal is OK then pop another POP in :)

Thank you, I hope that the sheet metal is ok or the simple procedure of riveting may not be so simple :ok

Hopefully a broken rivet. The pedals available now are poor. I am on my third having tried vw heritage, brickwerks and now jk. Two snapped at hinge after six weeks or so. Worst part is they are a real pain to bolt on if you don't fancy pop rivets.

Should be. I just stuck a couple of bolts through. If I'd known I'd be doing it regularly rivnuts would have been my choice.

Now you're talking! I slowly but surely replacing self tappers with stainless rivnuts and appropriate bolts. Another 2 won't go amiss! :ok

Thought of trying that and I will if this one breaks. Trying to drive with one hand on the throttle is no fun when the pedal snaps in traffic

Deciding factor will be state of floorpan in that area.
