Going high top ???

We have a high top and would not swap. In 16years of ownership we have only had a 'height' problem 3 or 4 times.
Loads of storage space, do not have to bring everything down before travelling. Go for it.

I know Pete and the conversion to high top was done really well. He has a Holdsworth conversion. He is well pleased.
I think he paid approx £2,000.

I like my high top to, I wasn't sure when first looking at these van whether to go for a pop top or not. On test drives I loved the way you can walk back from the cab and stand up straight. Also the (huge) dry storage is great when travelling and totally rain proof. Height barriers haven't been an issue, just means that you can't use certain car parks and I need to drive to find a free parking spot.

I know it's a huge debate but I like mine

Maybe yours is not the right van to convert, mine came with the high top, originally a solid side pop top would have been fitted. It's a tough call with your van as changing from the original spec may mean loss of value...

Why would it be a bad thing ????? Not driven a high top but a friend HOTPOD has one and loves it !! U.K. Camping is always damp and windy .. the pop top doesn't leak but so noisy in the wind .. and I'm obviously camping and not just parked with a pop !!

Not so much the change itself - more the act of dismantling a very desirable Westy Syncro....

I've had a type 2 hardtop and a type 2 Dormobile poptop and now I have a T3 hightop, and the T3 is much better hands down for camping with, compared to squatting half the time.
If you've got the money you should do it, at the end of the day you're the one using the camper so you should enjoy it how you like I reckon.

I have a westy high top T25, it's an ugly beast compared to the pop top vans, but I love it and I wouldn't change it. That said, a pop synchro is probably the most desirable of these vans and commands the most money when coming to sell (condition being good of course). The hard hat on the van is great though, bit buffety in high winds but they don't go fast enough for it to be a problem! No idea what a conversion would cost so not much help there!
