Auto sleeper roof removal and refurb

Post by MagicWagon »

I have a 1981 poptop auto sleeper and wondered if anyone has removed the top fibreglass part of the roof, and if so how ? It seems like it could be held on just by screws through the fibreglass into the timbre of the front and rear folding sections. I want to return or replace the interior vinyl and paint the interior timber which are against ed from an old water leak and it may be easier with it removed. Also any opinions on vinyl dye such as these would be welcome http://www.vinyldye.co.uk/All-Vinyl-Dye-Color-Sprays" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

On closer inspection, I think the existing vinyl headlining might be too far gone, so I think the Vinyl Dye option is probably a non starter. Which means the headlining will probably need replacing, so I've ordered some headlining samples. To do it properly I think the roof is going to have to come off. If no-one has any tips on this I guess I will have to find out the hard way how to do that !
