Is it possible to move it to the left or right.mine has a bigger gap on the right when shut, but I can't work out how I could move it.

Hi, loosen the screws holding the striker and see if it will move. I would think it is on a 'floating' plate.

Hope this helps

Loosen the Allen head bolts that hold the hinges to the main body. They bolt on to a plate behind that moves if it's is not stuck ! You should be able to move the the tailgate up, down, left and right a little to align it. The trick is to loosen them just enough to move it but not too much so when you open it again to tighten them it moves out of place.

Rob, it helps if you open gate and free each screw in turn ,sadly i need the torch on many but once loosened nip up,
then lift the gate and i prefer to support the gate and disconnect the struts, then you will have the dirt marks around the hinges to use as a guide and loosen a touch and slide across, i use a block and hammer so it stays where you move it to if you have loosened the right amount, then nip one up each side and lower ,
keep repeating till its right. then add struts and try again,
reason i remove them is they can tend to add tension to the hinge /mount, oh and be aware of the gaskets behind the hinges.
almost quicker to do than read this

Thanks Mike that helps a lot.The tailgate was replaced not that long ago when I had the van resprayed so hopefully won't need a torch.
