What colour?

Post by Smiffo »

I was browsing the threads on this site, and came across a post about wheels.
There was a link to a different page to show what these wheels looked like, but, I noticed the colour of the van in the pic.

To not hijack the thread I thought I would post my question here - with the pic of the van - as it is not related to wheels...

So the question is - what blue is this???

Is it Capri blue, Monaco Blue, Orly Blue..??
Another blue altogether??

I have been getting some body work done recently. The end-game is to get it sprayed next year maybe. I haven't settled on whether to just stick with pastel white or not, but if I were to change the colour, I would want an original colour.
This one fits the bill.

First I need to know exactly what colour it is, and then I can find if they sold T25s with this blue in 1989.

Over to you people - who knows their stuff on VW T25 history?
P.S. I hope the owner doesn't mind me using the picture. If you do, PM me and I will remove it.

If thats a caravelle with original paint its Dove Grey metallic code is LH5U. Star Blue is more vibrant, check out both colours, its hard to tell for sure with a photo.

Thanks for the link James.
That helps me know the year certain colours were used. Now I just need to find a pic that corresponds to each `blue type.`

From the list it looks like something I might call `slate blue.?` I could be way off though.!!
I tried Google images, but it is very vague.

Cheers Multisi.

I am just scanning pictures of Bluestars now. I think you are right, they look more `electric blue` ( as the only way I can describe it. )
It is very hard to tell in photos though.

I saw one the colour I am after coming out of Bristol some months back. A jacked up Syncro that came up the M32 and headed toward Wales on the M4.
I looked really nice - a rather large bearded bloke driving it with a larger grin - although that might be more to do with it being a Syncro..!! :rollin

Appreciate the replies all. Imma keep lookin'..!!
