Ah i see I thought my messenger was playing up! Thanks for the eBay link I'll keep and eye on these although they look like they'll sell pretty expensive for second hand cracked items, I was told the brackets are only £20?

Re: Defender mirror brackets
Yes brackets were £20 when I bought them earlier this year and new mirrors were £11.29 each (http://www.paddockspares.com/mtc5217-do ... -type.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).

Are these a significant improvement over the originals, Sailsy?
The act of looking at my own door handles while travelling down the motorway is wearing thin..!!
My mirrors are like to flags on the side of my van sometimes. I'v tried removing them and tightening the nut underneath, but it still doesn't help.
Can you let me know how you get on with this alternative solution?

Re: Defender mirror brackets
Yeah defender mirrors are awesome. These things are so tough I reckon you could do 200mph and they wouldn't move! It's pretty much a two handed job to fold them in

Have you tried a smear of grease and dip in sand on the swivel ball? It cured my floppy mirrors.

Not tried that, Winchester.
That didn't cross my mind - I merely removed them and tightened a nut up underneath that compressed a spring.
It made an improvement but not nearly enough. When approaching 60MPH, I either see my door handle or my elbow

Neither of those helps when overtaking or joining a motorway..!!
Your suggestion might work. I will see how money goes over the next few weeks. I have a few projects ongoing so I need to be careful with the pennies, so even if I end up using your idea short term, the landy ones are certainly looking attractive at that price when thinking more long term....
Appreciate your input and it certainly gives me immediate options.

It's a tried and tested remedy posted up on this website a number of times.

They are great. The missus said she didnt like the look of them but after driving and reverse parking she understood how much better they are.
