Diesel codes & years

Can anyone help, I'm hopefully looking at a 89 diesel at the weekend & was wondering what type of engine it should be.
Did the CS/KY & JX engines all go up to 1989 ???

Should have asked the guy really...


I've tried looking online but with no joy....

CS was discontinued by then, could be a KY 1.7n/a or a JX 1.6t.
Most likely to be a JX, a lot more of them about compared to the KY.
Of course a CS (or a 1Y etc) could have been swopped in by now.

KY 08/84 - 07/92
JX 08/84 - 07/92

Well you have all the parts there to swap over good look on finding a aaz I put the the 1y in mine with the pump off the jx.Sorry forgot to ask whats wrong with the engine.

Unsure yet, I'm picking up the bus Saturday, the guy got it in payment for some work or something..... He recons it's been cooked, said it lost power....

The jx engine is a good engine I would look to see if you can repair that first

So would a 94 golf have the AAZ engine? I've seen 1 not too far away for sale.....
Also would the log book say it has the aaz, thought I might message them 1st before I go for a look....

Yes the log book would have it on but to make sure there should be the number on the engine I thinks is below the third injector on the block look for a long flat spot and it's stamped on there it's also on the plastic timing belt cover where the bar code is but still check the engine
