Crap post! Sorry......toilet recommendations

Post by randamonia »

Hi

Looking to get a porta loo with a view to having it in seat box. I looked at the CVC one but they've been out of stock for a while. Was looking at this http://www.thetford-europe.com/product/ ... -qube-345/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Any good/ suitable?

There's only three of us and it will be mostly just for night time use.

Cheers

I'm sure I'll get corrected if I'm wrong but the CVC toilet looks suspiciously like the Kampa Portaflush 10 (also available as a Freedom Trail product through Go Outdoors). We've got one, nice and compact but, with the wife and two young boys who for some reason seem to produce 3 times the volume of fluid they consume in pee only when camping - the boys that is, the tank fills pretty quickly and requires draining frequently. The 10 stands for the 10 litre holding capacity. Ours is 18 months old now and going strong but I have noticed the slide valve getting a bit sticky. A bit clumsy and the flush isnt great but the most compact unit we could find which was important for us. You can get a 20 litre unit (the portaflush 20) but its quite a bit taller.

I have the porta potti345 which works okay. I bought an IKEA wooden locker second-hand which it fits in perfectly and I use the locker as a seat behind the passenger seat. PmcC

I have one of those qube-345s which I use in a popaloo pop up tent when the campsite doesn't have a bog.
I am 90 odd kg and can perch on it quite satisfactorily.
It does what it says on the (tin) box.
I had a look around when I bought it, and it seems very much that you get what you pay for. A bucket with a lid is the cheapest, and the Thetford range are best quality.

When buying the chemicals, buy the non Formaldehyde stuff as many disposal points only allow this.
