Engine running hot

Post by Jonnyb416 »

Quick question about my 1Y if anyone can help please (put it here for a quicker response)

Came to Busfest on Friday and felt the fan was on a lot. Checked the water and its used over a pint in a 3 hour journey.

The only thing I can think has changed is the garage that did my service a few months back has used a cheap coolant (maybe not much coolant at all)

Ran fine prior to that. I had put in a good coolant a year ago.

Any thoughts for me to check before I head home today please?

Thanks, Jon.

Ran a lot better on the way back. Could possibly have been an air lock.

Not sure if I should have the expansion tank with it being a converted 1Y but I bought one whilst at Busfest. It won't fit in the usual place. Will try find an alternative.

Just in case this helps anyone with limited knowledge like me, turns out the seal on the metal cap was perished and therefore, not holding pressure. £1.04 fix from Brickwerks. :ok
