Post by doenut82 »

Does anyone know whether it's possible to swap a carburettor to injection on the 1.9 DG engine water coole?
Cheers , Adam.

More horses 2.1 + Pierburg
More smoothness carb rebuild

If the engine has low/ unbalanced compression or worn ignition system adding an injection system won't help.

According to Richard Copping's book 'VW T3', the single carb 1.9 litre is 60 bhp, the twin carb version is 78 bhp and the fuel injection Vanagon is 82 bhp.

Stick with the DG - a 78 bhp carb. Yes it's 4bhp less but simple compared to the injection system.

4bhp at the engine not at the wheels.

a good fresh engine vs a tired engine will be way more than that.

twin choke card not twin carb

It's all find and fit
Type 3 manifolds (IIRC)
DRLA delorto 36

Cheaper to send your pierburg to Bromyard VW and have it completely restored.

Twin solex fitted to type four obviously have the fueling capacity and the manifold configuration of wbx, I believe is akin to the CT so do able.
I have recently bought a set of solex twins with suitable manifolds to replace my single solex 34 pict4 .
I expect more power (slightly) and better economy but the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
