cylinder head does not fit

Post by sandancer »

just for info.
we have tried fitting a vw caddy 1.6d cylinder head block into a vw 1.6d transporter, and it does not fit.
because the caddy head has one more water hole than the transporter head.
it took me 3 cylinder heads to work this out, I never noticed the difference until I was trying the 3rd one :?

Jx head is shimmed tappets and the later VW diesels have hydraulic tappets so have an extra oil drain hole in the head,by blocking up the hole with an aluminum plug you can use the head on the wrong block :ok
