Huge water dump

Post by Daphnia »

After short run of about 5 miles e/w just as I was parking up the van starts leaking absolute buckets of water.
I opened up the engine compartment and there was steam coming out of the lid of the water (I assume, I know nothing) bottle at bottom left hand corner of the van as you look at it. The water seems to be also coming from that area although it "may" also be coming from the front. When I pulled up you could see steam coming from the rear passenger side just behind the back wheel. It was quite spectacular, almost on a par with the time the head gasket on my MG went while zipping along the A3.
I know that without taking a look/more details etc it is difficult to say but thought I would ask. I have a bloke coming out to look at it tuesday/wednesday.
There were no warning lights on the dash and it is a 1990 petrol.

Cheers.

Well the bloke that is coming to look will hopefully discover just where the leak(s) coming from as that is obviously the first thing to establish. Without that information there is little "we" can offer by way of a solution. Hopefully it is just coming from that white "expansion tank" and not from the big rubber seals that sit between the cylinder heads and the crank case.
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here
