Stainless Feed/Return Pipes Replacement - anything else?!!

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

Stainless Feed/Return Pipes Replacement - anything else?!!

Post by 300CE »

Evening All!

One of my poor old plastic feed/return pipes decided to give up the ghost at the weekend. I had identified a small weep earlier in the day which eventually turned into a massive crack and it dumped all my coolant onto the floor in great style. Was extremely lucky i was outside my house when it happened.

I've decided to get some new stainless pipes and I've also ordered some new heater matrix pipe and also a gear shift linkage repair kit as well. I was thinking of replacing the petrol tank too and will clean and waxoyl everything prior to putting it all back.

Anything else I should replace whilst everything is out?!

Check the handbrake cable is OK. Might consider doing the rubber heater hoses as well while you're at it. Check metal clutch pipes for rust...rub down and paint. Replace the rubber breather pipes on the top of the tank.

As a matter of interest where exactly had the pipe split? Was it in the dog leg section between the engine bay & the horizontal run?

It had about a 5cm crack where it goes into the rubber hose (as your looking into the engine bay where the starter motor is - the water pipe to the right of the starter motor there). It gave way big style! I'll take a few photos of the damage when I replace them.
