Autobox fault ?

Post by Budgie7 »

I hope I am wrong , as We are supposed to be going on a 2 week jaunt the week after next. My van is a 2.1 Dj automatic. Today whilst driving it seemed to change down then back up again on a straight road whilst under no load. Late on when I came to back onto my drive it really clunked when going into reverse ( it has awlays clunked a bit ) . Then when I put it into drive it clunked again, which it never has. Then after I parked up I could smell what I think is gear oil. There are no leaks and I checked the gear oil which is the reddish colour I think it should be.
Any thoughts or suggestions. I will check it tomorrow when I come home from work to see if it drives ok.
Thanks

Have you ever changed the oil pan filter?

No not changed the filter. Am going to change it this week.
Hope it's not the box rob as supposed to be going on a holiday next week on a bit of a tour .
Fingers crossed . I don't think you can get the boxes fixed . ?. Secondhand or manual conversion.
