Advice

Post by AvoidDeadEnds »

Someone dinged the wheel arch of my camper van today at a Tesco store car park. Too far away for cctv, no witnesses, hopefully not malicious and not one iota of interest from the police.

Can anyone recommend a specialist to replace this wheel arch and give a respray or would my insurance sort that out?

looking at the pic the arch can be easily repaired without replacing it.if you go through the insurance your premium will go up next year do you have an excess on your policy.

I second the motion to not replace the arch, just have it filled and shaped. The original vw arches are good quality and any replacement isn't going to be as good. I replaced mine and wish that I hadn't bothered.

Looking at that picture and going by how much filler is in there already I would say that arch panel needed replacing anyway.

I was really angry. The Tesco staff suggested to call the Police so I did.

Fair do's - I feel for you though & I'd be a tad angry if it happened to mine.

The worst of that could be tapped out with a hammer and dolly, then hit with filler and paint and you would never tell it had been hit, replacing a panel for that is overkill, i had to replace the panel on my van because it looked like this, THIS justified a replacement, this had been hit by a fence post and left to rot out, seam was torn and it let all the weather in and rusted out
