Vibrating/wobbly gear lever

Post by what2do »

This has only recently become obvious, when at idle there is a more pronounced 'wobbling' of the gear lever. The engine is smooth at idle and not erratic in any way, if I gently touch the throttle to take it above idle the wobbling disappears. New engine mounts last year. Always had judder when reversing and it has also begun to judder in first when moving from stationary. Is this likely to be the gearbox mount?

Thanks in advance.

Don't rule out engine mounts either. They can look fine by eye but if rubber has parted company you'll get a judder in first or reverse, particularly up a slight incline. The weight of the engine sitting on them doesn't show much but once theres some vibration....

I changed them last year but we all know that the assumption of a new part being ok is often not the case.
