Hi, do any of you lovely people know if I could change the canvas on our side lifting pop top? It has the original brown and orange stripe canvas, patched with bits of gaffer tape Quite fancy a new one and wonder if it's do-able or is a specialist job?
Thank you
If you think you can or you think you can't either way you'll be right
I defo wouldnt go any where near proud to pop. Im fitting one of there pop tops to a customers bay, theres a lot of straps missing that should have been attached to the roof. Tried ringing many times, always answer machine on both lines and one of them is full (wont accept any more messages) the other line i left a message and got no reply still waiting (5 days). Seams are also poorly glued or to use there words welded. Toss. I never normally slag any firm off but feel i have to on this occasion

Forgot to say karen, not impossible to fit if you have patience and a few skills and tools. Depends how good you wat it. Personally i would remove the top carefully marking the canvas with a marker pen in many places to enable you to look back where it all goes. You will see what i mean when you are fitting it . Get a trimmer to make you one up it will be cheaper and better. Id say the side lifting ones are harder to fit than front or rear hinged ones. Where abouts in cheshire are you ?adam

It's easy enough to replace the bellows on these roofs, the hardest part is getting all the rivets out and removing the plastic strip without breaking it as it will be quite brittle.
Take your time and mark up the middle of the canvas and the middle of the roof on the lifted side at the top and work out from there get the top secure first then finish at the bottom. I used screws for refitting as I found it easier.
I can second what has been said about proud to pop after waiting nearly 8 weeks for my bellows to turn up due to circumstances that I won't go into I had no choice but to fit the I'll fitting poorly made bellows they sent me, 11 months on they now look older than the 30 year old ones I removed when I started my restoration.
