T25 Key in ignition signal (S-switch)
Does anyone know if the T25 has an 'S-signal' which much later vehicles like the MK4 golf have to let the clocks know that there's a key in the ignition (or more cruicially to let the clocks know when the key isn't there so sound the buzzer if the lights are left on).
Dave.

Cheers bigherb, do you know if it's just the electrical switch behind the barrel that you'd need to add this function?

I have this function on my Mk1 Golf (same ignition barrel parts etc) and I'm sure it's on my van.
On the Golf you can only drop the electric roof with the key in the barrel but not turned, and on my van the key has to be in the barrel to allow the radio to turn on. As OP has mentioned this triggers the '292' lights on relay when the key is removed from the barrel.

Not sure about the barrel but the switch has an additional terminal marked S. Replacement switches are often made as one type fits all and include the S and a P terminal for parking lights.davegsm82 wrote:Cheers bigherb, do you know if it's just the electrical switch behind the barrel that you'd need to add this function?

Re: T25 Key in ignition signal (S-switch)
FWIW I just checked the ignition switch terminal housing on a CE1 dash harness lying in a pile of old wiring here. It's pn. 111 953 631.
Sure enough in addition to having positions for terminals 15,30,X & 50, there are positions for 'Su', 'P' & 'G'. I assume 'Su' = 'S' in later terminology. It therefore seem likely at least some versions of the CE1 ignition switch have the extra contacts, so it should be pretty straightforward to add an 'S' terminal.

Re: T25 Key in ignition signal (S-switch)
Brilliant information, thanks everyone.
I noticed the switches on ebay have small terminals as well as the usual large ones. Perhaps I can just buy a replacement switch and add a couple of 1/8" spades for the S-contact.

Yes, however I would recommend only using a genuine VW or OEM switch, not a chinese one off Ebay..

Baxter sells the Meyle ones so they're probably not dreadful.. he is asking £5.86, considerably less than GSF ! But check it has the S terminal.

From the picture it doesn't appear to have the terminal. I'll ask the question though, thanks Andy.

I might still have a US one lying around somewhere. You can have it for the price of a stamp. It works, I changed it after I imported the van to disable the annoying seatbelt buzzer.
