P.S. This query originates from the symptom of "choking", when the vehicle is heated.
After cooling down, the van starts normally, but after some heating , it exhibits the same symptom.

Nothing to do with the engine at all - its the fuel pump for an Eberspächer.

1. It is taken from the floor, looking up to the chassis.

2. The right side of the photo is looking forward, to the fuel tank.

3. The left side, looking towards the engine.

Should i make some additional checks for the symptom of "choking"?

You will have to explain to us what you mean by "choking" ? - It is not an expression we know here in the UK with regard to an engine fault.

Is the motor running lean (starved of fuel) or running rich (over fuelling) ?

Or is it some over symptom?

Dear friends,

i apologize for my poor terminology as regards engine behavior/performance.

The symptom, as follows

1. Engine starts normally. Idling, with no problem, at full range 0-5000RPM

2. Vehicle starts normally.
1st gear, 2nd gear....OK

3. After 15-20 minutes with normal traffic, engine heats up, at around half of the temperature indicator.

4. From stop (at traffic lights), 1st gear OK, but on 2nd, 3rd etc gear, when i step on the accelerator, engine does not respond to acceleration.
On the contrary, engine stops.(choking)

5. Engine switched off for 10minutes to cool down, then the same sequence from 1-4 above.

Hope this clarifies 'choking'.

It would help people here if you can state what engine you have, what fuel it runs on, what age, and if it is manual or automatic transmission.
People on this website are really helpful, but I think they need more 'clues'.

The previously described symptom, is for.

1. VW Multivan
2. Engine : MV, 2.1l, petrol, 1989
3. Manual transmission

Any other clarifying info, at your disposal.

Dear liouskosj, Just for your information, that symptom is generally known (here in the UK) as "stalling" (though I personally think that is not an accurate term to use ) or also known as "dying".

As it seems to work ok in 1st gear, I don't think it will be a weak spark, which can and often is, a failing coil or ignition amp (but it could be).

Sadly I am no expert at all when it comes to the fuel injection versions of the flat 4 VW engines So, I will leave it to others now to assist.

Aside = I had one of the most relaxing / best weeks of my whole life on holiday in Greece. Love the place and the people
