aaz oil leaks

Post by weegaz22 »

ok, as above i have an aaz in my multivan and it is dribbling oil all over my mums driveway, in the next couple of weeks i plan to rig up a big piece of plastic sheet into the back of the van to protect interior and i plan to clean the engine bay with some de-greaser and a pressure washer to find out where the leak(s) are coming from, just thought i would ask here first to find out what the typical places are for this lump to leak from to give me somewhere to keep an eye on

My first check would be the breather elbow on the side of the block - when I got my engine this was cracked making a right mess. It is only plastic and doesn't seem to be man enough for the job.
Made this one to replace it.

Think i may have found it, got under it today with some brake cleaner and an old tshirt and wiped most of it away, it looks like the sumps taken a hit from something and its been Jb welded at one point, have wiped it all clean and will check tomorrow if that is the source but 90% sure it is.

so might be on the lookout for a sump if anyone's AAZ has died on them recently

Just to check when you swap in an aaz you do keep the aaz sump pan don't you? Not too familiar with the specifics of vw engine swaps, don't want to source a sump then find its the wrong one
