Im after some help. My starter motor is on its knees. Took some persuasion from a hammer recently!
Have removed today (1st time - feel very grown up)
The part number doesn't seem to correspond with the ones i see on Brickwerks website etc...
But regardless Brickwerks, JK and Heritage are out of stock
Does anyone know where I can source a replacement?
and whats with my part number?
Bosch 0 001 212 213 214

I'll try and load pix
cheers
Dan

Your Bosch part number cross-references to the VW number on your Brickwerks link.

Is there a repair place by you at all, generally do things like starters, alternators etc, usually much cheaper than buying a new one.

Our local electrical magician packed it in a couple of years ago due old age and increasing workshop rent. Stuffs like that is getting difficult to get repaired and often beyond our experience or tricky parts involved. I am Still learning bodges and tricky fixes at age 75 (started before leaving school) and have amassed so much tooling and stuff that if they ever get me into what they used to call the Old Folks Home and which is often now just another money for old rope money making con, Pickfords will be needed.

Dragging myself out of MOG mode: Yes I still get that grown up feeling when I crack an almost impossible fix. But every now and again I do get the one which challenges me that bit too far and makes me feel very very old! Pushes on regardless...

That sounds expensive, what needed replacing for that price?

"frell" all probably (London prices)
Solenoid was playing up and brushes were worn.
I was glad to get it fixed to be honest.
1st guy had it 24hrs but couldn't find parts?
It had been sprayed black when I git it back which leads me to think
He probably did not much else.
At least it now works
