Hi all
I have body repairs to sort on my 82 2l air-cooled Westfalia high top.
Need to get some body cuts for the rear side window frames. Seen a few caravelle body cuts available, would these be suitable for a camper or do they have a different profile/shape?
Cheers
Myles

Yes you need the factory window surrounds as fitted to caravelle.

Re: Bodycuts
Which parts and how much of them do you need? I might have some spares from my roof as per my roof replacement thread.
Dave.

Hi Dave
Thanks but I need the bottom of the frame and about a third of the way up. I see from your thread your cut doesn't have the bottom bit. Good luck with your repair. I have the roof to tackle on mine.
Tried Volksheaven but they weren'the able to help unfortunately.
Cheers

Re: Bodycuts
I keep chasing that roof Dave. Guy who sold it to you promised me some window cuts as my pillars have two rust areas that need cuts but then sold it as a unit
Fortunately its the uprights I need
Don't sling em.

Oh no no no, I never bin anything, as evidenced by the state of my garden. I should never have been allowed to buy a house

Let me know what bits you're after, I can't see myself needing any of the main parts of the uprights but I will need a couple of window corners to try and repair my windscreen inside lower corners, I'll probably take my cuts from the D-pillar uppers.
Send me a PM, try and include some photo's of the areas you need.
Dave.

Re: Bodycuts
First photo (RHS) I can cut from an upright ok (I think, unless you have better ideas)

Second photo (LHS):

See what you think Dave. No rush on them.

Re: Bodycuts
I think the bit in the first picture could be replicated with a cut from the upper right hand side of that same window rather than part of the upright, provided that you can work with the crease that runs along that area.
The reason being that I seem to think that the profile of the metalwork isn't the same as the glass, the (factory fitted) glass being flatter than the pillar. I might be wrong in this but I'm not sitting with my van so can't check right now. Will have a look later if I get a chance.
If the door panel is the same profile as a standard pillar (might be thinner material) then there's plenty of upright sections which you could take a cut from. I'll get some photo's of the sections tonight as they are now, feel free to E D I T the photos I will put up to show which areas you would be interested in
Lastly, sorry mrbodly for hijacking your thread
Dave.
