carburettor 1.9 df water cooled petrol - advice needed pls

Post by bensid »

Hello all,
After purchasing this camper it appears to be one thing after the other... but that's half the fun right... right!?!?

So it appears the Solex carburettor on my 1.9 df water cooled petrol engine (1983) is cream crackered and the mechanic advised i should replace it. After some scouring and a few phone calls i see that this might not be possible and my options are- 1) wait/hope to find one online eventually. 2) recondition the existing one. 3) get the Weber conversion kit and fit

A couple of Q's- Would be DF engine be fitted with a 2E3 Solex? Are the Solex 2E3 carbs the same as the Pierburg 2E3 carbs? Would the Pierburg service kit work on my Solex carb? - (https://www.dellorto.co.uk/shop/other-c ... ice-kit-2/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

I don't want to convert it to a weber. Any advice on this would be thankfully received. What shall i do?

Ben

Thanks Lefty. I don't know which model but going to have a look now... Would it likely be the 34 PICT with a df watercooled engine? If it is as that link suggests, can any other brand 34 PICT carb work as a replacement do you know?

DF are fitted with a Solex 34 PICT-5 carburetor.
What is actually wrong with it?
Apart cracked or corroded bodies there is not much else that causes a problem that can't be repaired, the main wear is the spindle bushes which can be replaced.

Double check before ordering parts. My DF is fitted with a Pierburg carb.
