Not entirely sure how bad this is

Hi all,

Mot is coming up and last one had an advisory for the front outriggers being holed, I'm just trying to figure out how bad it is and how much metal work I am missing.

I would have thought I should have some kind of jacking point here, I've looked online at the repair sections and a bit confused! Does it look mostly normal apart from the hole at the bottom?

Well. It looks like you're missing the lower section of the Jacking point, i.e. the bit that makes the 'hole' that the original T3 Jack slots into. Here is a link to the actual item iteself;

It's upside down in that picture and the right hand side is the outside edge.

Sadly, that's par for the course with these vans. I'm about to post up a somewhat shocking thread on my own van's roof.

All I will say is, with stuff like this it usually looks worse than it is, however the T25 chassis hides a lot. If you're handy with a welder though, then really it's all just metal at the end of the day. It's a steep learning curve but I'm getting there with mine.

Yep, looks like JP has totally gone. When you do the repair be aware that you will probably need to expose the inner sill and also the return "flap" of the wing where it mates up to the outside of the JP, if it has rusted out that badly I would expect those areas to need attention as well.

There are a few threads on here that detail JP repairs if you have a root around I think - here is a pic of the reapir i have just done on mine.

I've recently rebuilt the front JP's on my pickup. One side needed more than the other (patch to inner sill above JP) but they each needed ~7 different panels repairing as they all come together there. It took me ~2 weeks (including re-making ~1.5m of the seam between outer and inner sills on the RH side and painting the lot when done).

Inner b-pillar
Inner b-pillar reinforcment (made fresh one from a chunk of RHS)
lower surface of inner sill
front side of outrigger
back side of outrigger (big rusty scab between outrigger and inner sill)
lower rear of front wheel fender
outer b-pillar

I found it useful it have the inner and outer sills and JP's thoroughtly sandblasted beforehand after removing the outer b-pillar lower part.
