gearbox swap

Post by ermie571 »

Hi all,

apologies first...I have tried to search wiki, but can't find answer to questions.

Engine AGG 2.0 ltr 8 valve
Gearbox - 4 speed petrol gone pop. Sorry, don't know code, but on a 1988 bus - we haven't changed it in 10 yrs...

so...

found a 3h box (diesel 1.6TD) which is said to be good for the torque the AGG puts through the box (how I wish I understood that :-) ).
Will it fit straight in?... :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

or am I looking at new linkage, gear stick etc etc

I have been informed that the rubber bush is larger for a diesel box.

Any pointers, guidance etc etc most gratefully received

regards,

Emma

(ps will put this in alternative too...and watch both :-) )

Emma
you have pm switched off - my mistake I wasn't logged in before so couldn't see it

it depends a little on how your conversion and 4 speed was installed, ie which mount petrol or diesel, which rubber mount petrol or diesel, which rear linkage petrol or diesel
