JK middle sliding window
I'm thinking of replacing my middle sliding window, my current one works fine but doesn't seem to fit correctly at the corners as the frame is slightly too small at the corners and leaves gaps which is causing water ingress and rust. I've replaced the seal and cleaned up the window aperture but it's time for a change and I'd like a sliding window with a better fitting frame. I'm not sure if the below is a good option, has anyone fitted or have experience of one of this one from JK?

Bump
Anyone got any ideas on replacing a middle sliding window? Doesn't have to be the jk one as above just a good fit opposite the sliding door on a caravelle

Re: JK middle sliding window
Could be that the window aperture hole has been cut incorrectly. There's not a huge amount of tolerance as it is and the JK one reads that it's suitable more for a factory conversion, not aftermarket, unless I've misunderstood it
You might get away with a building up a couple of layers of a flexible window sealant to get out of trouble:
This firm sell a good screen sealer which I've used a few times now:
The flog it on eBay too, about a fiver a tube
http://www.waysideadhesives.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'd advise you to wear some disposable gloves, filthy stuff to get on your hands and then on everything else

This is the 3rd cut and paste window sealant thread in the last 5 minutes. Is that a record?

Re: JK middle sliding window
Thanks for the info, my van is a caravelle with factory apertures so I suspect it's the after market window frame that's at fault. It's the corner radius that is incorrect

It has factory windows rather than panel van cut apertures, it also has factory seat belt mounts in the rear internal pillars. Not sure how fitted out it was before autohomes convertered the van but it was probably straight from hanover. I have the original autohomes receipt, it was bought converted as a kamper 2.

Re: JK middle sliding window
Why not contact JK and ask if they supply a cutting template with their unit? Perhaps, if they do come with a template, they might copy it for you so you could compare against what size aperture you have on your van. At least then you'd know for sure their window would do the job. And if they think there's a sale in the offing, might well be willing to help you.
Re: JK middle sliding window
You need to know if its a panel van or a factory window van to get the correct advise, its easy to tell what it is, do the window rubbers fit into the window aperture or are they standing proud of the outside of the van. If the rubbers are poking out its a converted panel van. I dont think autohomes would have used a factory caravelle, too expensive for them to buy.Ant-t wrote:Sorry for any confusion here, I'm not sure which base t3 model autohomes used for my van, was just after some advice on my sliding window but not to worry

Thanks for the input re the cutting template, it sounds like a good option, I'll contact them. As above my van has factory apertures rather than cut panels with the seals sitting in the window apertures.

Re: JK middle sliding window
most autohomes were caravelle ( or the earlier "BUS") bodies in my experience......
but if anything JK fits, it will the exception to the rule rather than the norm.....

Re: JK middle sliding window
If you do have a factory window van you can use that JK window or any year original vw window for that side of your van, must be from RHD though. the window for the sliding door comes in 2 sizes though, early or late.Ant-t wrote:Thanks for the input re the cutting template, it sounds like a good option, I'll contact them.
