Steering wheel needs a tidy up

Hi guys and gals
Had the same issue, managed to clean the years of gunk off, looked great for a while, only for the goo to return.
I think the plastic is breaking down causing the issue, thought I was cleaver doing the Mr steering sew over jobby. Alas this now is moving around and you can feel it is a bit sticky under the cover, seems to get worse in the sun !
Prob something to do with UVa's, UVb's or something else that didn't exist when I was a kid !!

Note the Cover kit is excellent it's the quality of original wheel that is the issue, just to be clear. Ta
