Hi All,
I have fitted a new R&R bed which means I have to move the island table. I have chosen to use one which doesn't require you to cut a hole through the vans metal floor. However I need to remove the old table's recessed socket in the floor. This will leave a 2" round hole in the van floor which I need to seal. I guess the best option would be to weld a panel over the hole however it is quite close to the petrol tank. Anyone else had a similar problem and how did you solve it.
Considering riviting a plate over it sealed with Dirko. Any suggestions welcome.
Andy

Re: Sealing a hole in the floor from the table base
Any welding near to a fuel tank isn't a good idea.
I'd remove the fitting, paint the edges of the hole with red oxide or any rust preventative paint, and do as you say, pop rivet a plate over the hole and seal it from both sides if possible.

I have a similar task, I have a few smaller holes to sort too. Would it be a problem if I didn't rivet or weld all these?

I had a couple of holes in the floor after lifting the old covering, I just used blanking grommets with a little sealer applied, no different to the old drainage holes cars use to have when they leaked all the time. And you can get 2" ones too
