Help please. Rm122 fridge how long before

Post by Da dan »

How long does it normally take for the Electrolux rm122 fridge to get cold on gas? Had it running for about an hour and half. Took it out the van to get it cleaned up and working. Got it working but..........

Should be cold after a couple of hrs. If you're struggling & you've got a good flame then I'd remove it, turn it upside down overnight, then give it another go. Make sure the injector is clean, don't poke it with anything metal, soak it in a solvent. When lit it should be warmish when putting your hand over the flue.

About 8 hours or overnight with mine. Can help it along with freezers packs or a bottle of frozen water to help kick start. I find liquids seem to modulate the temperature better when back on 12V.

That's too long. Shouldn't take anywhere near that on gas.

8 hours seems way too long, ours will have items within it at a good chill in about 1.5 hours.

Turn it upside down?!?!? Does that really work or are you pulling my plonker?

Turning it upside down is only for when the fridge hasn't been used for a long time and it doesn't cool on any setting, mains, 12v and gas. The theory is that helps the ammonia/water mix together again as it tends to separate out with lack of circulation.
Waste of time if it is working on other than gas.

True, but there's no indication it works on gas or electric.

The fridge must be level, part of the system relies on gravity
If your drive slopes you will need to level your van.
When you service a fridge it's always best to fit a new jet
Also there should be a baffle in the chimney, a twisted piece of tin hanging on the end of a short wire. It ensures the heat is dissipated effectively in the correct place.

The fudge has been upside down all day just turned it upright will try it later. It has the twisty thing and it's on the work top so it's all level. It doesn't need to be earthed to work properly does it? Get a good flame and lights up nice so Fingers crossed

Doesn't need to be earthed if you're just using it on gas, although you need power to ignite the burner? I suppose you've rigged up a hose & will light it by hand as it's on a bench?
