immob problem ?

hi all just finishing agg conversion went to start van would not start what a dick forgot about golf key chip ect . so I suppose the immobiliser has kicked in if I disconnect the battery remove the ecu plug then reconnect ecu then battery and tape chip to key the right way will it start or will I have to get vag com to remove fault codes cheers engine fires on first turn of key farts and then just turns over maybe a little fart and even had farty smoke

Shouldn't need to clear any fault codes, just put the chip near/in the halo and it should start.
