Forced air flaps

Post by Goodgeyman »

Morning
I have my heater matrix out to replace faulty fan. In the process I found one forced air flap just laying inside the housing. What purpose do these flaps serve? I can see the pivot point for the missing one are broken so replacing will not be easy. I am guessing they are just to keep bugs out as they are not controlled in any way other than gravity?

They stop the air from the fan blower being blown back out the intake.

Thanks for the reply I have been looking at it today and only twigged when I tried the new fan out and saw the flap close under the air pressure. I have made a replacement flap for the missing one out of a piece of plastic with a wire across the top. Doesn't look great but seems to push closed okay.
