westfalia colour coded bumpers
I have read that the westfalia bumpers and side planks came in black from new is this correct?
And I see that lots of them have been colour coded so has anybody had this done and if so what sort of job is it as they are not already primed?
Also I see some keep the moulding black and some colour code it so it this a separate part or part of the bumpers?
Thanks

Re: westfalia colour coded bumpers
Local body shop painted mine. They sprayed the black bits after the coded colour. Its all one moulding.Mines a caravelle not a westy. The side planks were never made available for RHD vehicles, nomorerustybits started producing them, they are excellent quality.

Looks good! So were yours the original black before you got them painted?
It's does make a big difference when they are colour coded I know some have the whole bumper painted but I prefer it with the moulding left black.

Body colour and a black "buffer" makes the buses look a lot more modern imho. Its a good look.

Does black buffer mean the moulding strip?
How can you paint both if it's all one part would you just paint the bumper the body colour and then mask it off and paint the moulding strip black?

Re: westfalia colour coded bumpers
So do you actually paint the strip black or leave it as it is?
If you paint it black what paint code would you do it?

Re: westfalia colour coded bumpers
The gel coat was a dark grey on the original genuine VW bumpers, commonly seen unpainted on Atlantics/Californias.

The Blue/Red/Whitestar multivans had them colour coded from the factory.

I have masked off and repainted the raised sections on my Bluestar with HB Body texture bumper paint:

This gives a textured finish and looks great - it's also good for painting the grilles, rear vents etc.
