Hi everyone,
I've got a DG engine t25 running on LPG, 5-speed box.
wife and daughter have visited a nearby campsite but gearstick has snapped in the car park..got to remove it and weld it tomorrow so we can move it but its got an underslung lpg tank in the wheel well, no access to the gear linkage without removing it. Can they be let down easily just enough to disengage the gear lever from its housing?
Without the van here i'm not sure and can't get a lot of garage gear up there easily, just a trolley jack.
any experience with these would be helpful before I get stuck in up there!

wil be doing the same thing this weekend,I have been told that I need to jack the van up and I 'should' be able to get my hands onto the nut and bolt to release the gear lever from the shift rod, luckily all the bushes were replaced recently so everything should undo easily, removing the lever from above is like 'key hole surgery',apparently

When mine broke a local welder fixed it in situ. He wrapped a load of wet towelling around the lower part of it and away he went. It looked like a good neat weld and has been like that for a couple of years now. Plus he "set" it so it is a bit further back from the dashboard, which is good.
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here

I am part way through mine the LPG tank weighs a ton,go careful when you lower it,mine is part way lowered as I could not reach the rear mount to enable me to lower it all the way

I took the decision to weld up the gearstick back onto the stump in situ - there was enough left sticking out to make it a worthwhile join...luckily managed to borrow a mig from the campsite handyman! I wasn't looking forward to frazzled carpets and interior from the welding but it was fine.
I'm definitely going for a gear linkage refurb and a solid gearstick when I'm back on tarmac but for now it's all good.
