Square outer headlamps from a Jeep Cherokee?
Looks like a cost effective mod to me. Similar parts must be available in Europe?
Not having to trim the grille is a bonus.

Now, that is an interesting thread. Looks to have solved the eternal square headlight problem - if only in the US. But the vehicles/parts he mentions should be available over here...

It says 2 hours to trim the grill.

There's a later amendment to make them fit without trimming the grille.

Would look better with four. Way too much modding though.

A crystal Cherokee headlamp is available through powerful uk.
The mountings aka "buckets" should be easy to find.
Hardly a load of mods required!

I think there was a post on the samba about someone that used new LHD lights and removed the rear reflector part and fitted them to RHD glass by heating them up in the oven to soften the adhesive that held the glass to the reflector as his RHD reflectors were no good, unless I imagined it as it was quite a while ago

The reflector isnt handed afaik and its the glass that always gets broken!
The US seem to boast about the European square lights being so much better than the DOT ones; how bad must they be?!!

Re: Square outer headlamps from a Jeep Cherokee?
That was me - the thread is in the Bodywork Seats and Glass section, I think. "Fixing my square headlight" or something like that. My reflector was shot, so I swapped the glass on to a good one.scottbott wrote:I think there was a post on the samba about someone that used new LHD lights and removed the rear reflector part and fitted them to RHD glass by heating them up in the oven to soften the adhesive that held the glass to the reflector as his RHD reflectors were no good, unless I imagined it as it was quite a while ago
