California Dreamin wrote:My maths is crap but a straight leg of more that 3.5 metres coming off a 3 metre wide front section back to the van mounts (2.6 metres apart) each leg angled to compensate for just 20 centimetres...that's going to be a very shallow angle, surely not enough to need the mounts moving.....

Martin

If I understand right it will be more than 200mm because the extra length will be mostly at the front.
Don't think the legs are 3.5 m long.

I'll double quote you itchyfeet.....yours does hang over the tailgate and does look aesthetically .... odd. I have mounted mine further forwards but with my van being a poptop the lines of the roof and 3m F45 work better.
I'll be the first to admit that the longer 3.0 versions do give better cover to the sliding door but I will also stick by my originally opinion by saying the shorter 2.6 metre F45's aesthetically look better...However, as I've just gone bigger, function has won over form.
Yours would look better moving it forwards 4 - 5 inches because of the lower roof line on a tintop.... :ok

If you move it forward your sliding door will get wet when open
You may also have trouble with the bracket fixing hitting the mech inside, you have limited options on bracket position.

Sometimes you just have to accept compromise is best :D

I am using a khyam motordome awning which i secure with a figure of 8 onto the gutter rail ...

If i were to attach an F35 how would i then attach the khyam to the van???

Am i right in saying that the F45 has a figure of 8 attachment where you can then use both but the F35 doesn't ....

thx

F45 has the slot yes, dunno about F35

Bear in mind there is a gap between F45 and the van if the brackets are used on the gutter.

one thing the F35 is probably better for...

The F45 when mounted on brackets has a gap between the roof and the awning letting rain in.

Very annoying, anybody found any good ways if stopping it?

This swimming 'noodle' seems to work
