Jx radiator problem

Post by rob1927 »

Hello all, could any one advise on the following?

I had a siezed bleed screw in my rad, the whole assembly was turning in the nylon/plastic section of the rad. I've had no choice but to remove the rad for better access and prize out the bleed screw with the brass bit that it screws in to. I'm now left with a rad with a hole in the top.

I'm pretty sure the rad is now scrap but was wondering if anyone has ever repaired one using some kind of epoxy resin/sealant kind of stuff?

The hole in the rad is still round as it should be.

If the rad is scrap does any one know where I can find a new good quality one?

I've had a cheaper replacement rad in the past but the nigh on inaccessible plastic bleed screw broke off like chocolate.

Brickwerks are currently out of stock of the quality rads with proper metal bleed screw, they may have some decent quality alternatives in next week.

But just in case they don't, where can I source a quality rad with metal bleed screw In the U.K. Or Europe?

Cheers

Rob.

Cheers Barry, I've tried using evostick equivalent to jb weld today as its all they had in halfords but to no avail unfortunatley.

I've read a customer review on the JK rad, quite funny, 'you may have to modify your brackets in order for the rad to fit' etc etc

It might be my only option at the mo.

Cheers again :D

It's GSF so only buy with a discount code. And their picture is upside down. But last few I've bought have been good with metal bleed screw (careful though, it's a 14mm head so easily overtightened, I imagine)

Cheers folks, much appreciated.

I've spent today taking everything to bits again and regluing, also fixed the knackered fan motor, put everything back together started the bleed procedure and it leaked again....alas...

Think it's time for a new rad i'll check out gsf.

I'm back in the uk now Barry. No more bees for me!

Thanks again folks, much appreciated :D
